The party is still finding their way through the catacombs of Orthanc. In this session they are on the verge of finding Taradon’s shield, the embodiment of his “Wagers” diamond.
The group is in Isengard. Saruman informs the party that Taradon built Orthanc back in the Second Age. He then grants permission to search through Orthanc’s catacombs to find the shield of Taradon and the last item of Taradon’s Wager.
The fellowship manages to defeat Taurmyrnoth with no visible lasting damage, and they limp their way into Isengard. There they seek the counsel of Saruman the White as Mt. Doom comes alive.
This is the second part of this epic fight. The group attempts to take out the wargs before focusing their attention on Taurmyrnoth.
Waking up in Lorien was a pleasant way to start the player characters’ day. Walking along Fangorn Forest and being discovered by the werewolf Taurmyrnoth was a great way to ruin their day.
In this episode, the party staggers into Lothlórien seeking the help of the “Lady of Light.” There they discovered that Taradon had studied the works of Celebrimbor in years past, and that he had left his “key” behind.
The heroes finish up the fight at the Mirrormere with a little help from Ori and Balin. Burin gets to reconnect with his father, they learn a bit about galvorn, and the group plans to walk through Lothlórien.
The party heads from Mountain Hall to the Mirrormere, hearing that Balin had been seen heading that way. There they encounter a few Longbeards, Lóni and Nalí, who are also looking for Balin. An unpleasant surprise are the patrolling orcs, from Moria.
The party finishes the Yule celebration at Mountain Hall with the arm wrestling and dancing competitions. After, players discuss the next best possible course of action.
This was one of the most fun sessions to record and edit. The Mountain Hall Yuletide Drinking Contest. Don’t count out the hobbit!
